Biology

A brief description of the course followed in Years 7 and 8.

Year 7 and 8 students study Biology for one double period a week. In common with the other two science departments we endeavour to cultivate an understanding of the scientific method.  We use observation, measurement and study of living organisms as a vehicle for introducing and using this concept.  The collection of data, its presentation and analysis is an essential part of this foundation course.  The School grounds are used as appropriate.

The textbook used is a publication by Longmans.  It is well presented and employs an experimental/enquiry style of approach.
